A pasta dinner and silent auction will be hosted by the Mount Olive Robotics Team from 6 to 9 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 28, at Mount Olive High School.
The proceeds will benefit Heifer International.

Former The Young and the Restless star Michelle Stafford and former Days of Our Lives star Nadia Bjorlin were among the women who turned out to support Beyond Hunger: A Place at the Table on September 15. The charity event, held at the Montage Beverly Hills Hotel, helps empower women around the world.

Following Susan Saradon’s acceptance of the Noble Globe Award at Heifer International’s 2nd annual Beyond Hunger: A Place at the Table, The Band Perry took the stage to perform for guests. Their rousing performance, which began with “Pioneer” and ended with “Done” had the crowd on their feet and dancing.

As Susan Sarandon walked on stage at Sunday night’s 2nd Annual Heifer International Beyond Hunger: A Place at the Table gala, to a standing ovation, you could see the pride in her eyes. Sarandon would accept the Noble Globe Award for her work with the organization. Following Ms. Saradon’s acceptance of the honor, The Band Perry took the stage to perform for guests.

Last year, 115 people hit the sidewalks in Bay City to raise more than $10,000 for the 32nd annual CROP Hunger Walk, sponsored by Church World Service and area churches. This year, organizers hope to raise even more money and see 150 people participate in the event, with proceeds going to Bay County Food Pantry Network, with the remaining going to organizations such as Church World Services, CARE, Heifer International, Catholic Relief Services and American Joint Jewish Distribution, to name a few.

The 2013 downtown Main Street Food Truck Festival in Little Rock will span four city blocks offering street eats from 25 food trucks and food carts, craft selections from 25 Etsy Little Rock vendors, local bands and musicians, a Heifer International Children’s Plaza, street performers and three well stocked beer gardens selling the coldest brew in town!

Carolyn Goettsch of Edgemont recently toured Ecuador with a group of California volunteers for Heifer International. Working with farmers in Ecuador since 1954, Heifer volunteers conducted an agro-ecology field study of Heifer’s community development of small scale rural Ecuadorian farmers.

Award-winning superstar sibling trio, THE BAND PERRY, took over the airwaves last week, performing their new single “Don’t Let Me Be Lonely” and chatting with Arsenio Hall and the ladies of The Talk. The Band Perry also performed at the 2nd Annual “Beyond Hunger: A Place At the Table” – a fundraiser to help end world hunger and poverty -honoring Academy Award winning actress Susan Sarandon and hosted by Heifer International.

Ten students and two faculty sponsors in the social work program at Evangel University will visit the legendary Heifer Ranch in Perryville, Ark., Sept. 26-28.

It all started in 2000 when Heifer Project International, a local NGO, donated over 300 Friesian cows to poor households in Gicumbi District in Northern Province. So overtime milk production increased, but there was no market. This prompted 330 dairy farmers in the district to form an association to market their milk as a group, giving birth to IRKIB Co-operative Society.
