How would you like a cow? That’s probably not a question you have ever been asked, but I’ll tell you why I brought it up.
Heifer Farm in Rutland would like to thank everyone who came out to the farm for our Global Harvest Festival on Oct. 5 and 6. Many families even braved the rain on Sunday to enjoy hayrides to the pumpkin patch, taste international food, and enjoy family-fun activities like bursting piñatas, pressing apple cider, making Tibetan prayer flags and Guatemalan worry dolls, and feeding the goats.
Founded in 2007, Blog Action Day brings together bloggers from different countries, interests and languages to blog about one important global topic on the same day. Past topics have included Water, Climate Change, Poverty, Food and the Power of We, with over 25,000 blogs taking part since 2007.
We recently sent one lucky winner to Peru with Heifer International® for our Pass On The Gift® IN PERU sweepstakes, and now we’re proud to announce we’ve just reached our goal of raising $25,000 for the award-winning organization dedicated to ending world hunger. With every coat or jacket purchased, we donated $20 to Heifer — thanks to YOU!

Two years ago I had the opportunity to visit a Fair Trade certified farm for the first time…. We could see firsthand what it looks like to be a Fair Trade banana farmer in Ecuador and how Heifer International’s work helps take the benefits of Fair Trade membership a step farther.
The Youth Group took a trip to Heifer Farm in Rutland, MA last weekend for activities at their Harvest Festival. I’ll be posting photos over the next few days from Saturday.
Students, faculty and administrators of Stella Niagara Education Park celebrated Peace Week from Sept. 30 through Oct. 4. The campus is collecting returnable plastic bottles to raise money for Heifer International.
Educators and teachers can go online to learn how to effectively implement Heifer International’s Read to Feed program and connect with other teachers engaging in the program through online workshops.
